WWI – The Beginning

Was war inevitable

Wing was an ordinary village when war broke out in August 1914 but by September 1914 men were already signing up to go to war.  There was also the added pressure of Belgium refugees and detachments being billeted in here. Wing was roughly half the population that it is now and so far there are around 350 names that have been collected of those who went to fight.
