In Wing we have the remains of an extensive Bomber Training Airfield known as RAF Wing. Though the taxiways are still there a lot of the buildings are no longer around. Thanks to the support of 8th in the East, and our now Suffolk based archaeologist Martin Cuthbert, we can now carry out recording work on the surviving buildings. We only have a few months in the year to be able to do this, mainly because of the undergrowth, but luckily it coincides with our trowel downtime.

We have already carried out a survey of the sites using Google Earth to see which areas are still there. Our next task is to walk the footpaths to see if we can plot buildings for recording.
