August 2015 Update

Carnival
Thank you for all those who supported us at the Carnival this year. It was an amazing turn out and the dig once again attracted plenty of attention! Also following the success of our high quality supporter t-shirts that were on sale at the carnival last month we have 3 left for immediate sale and a further order to go in shortly (we didn’t have all the right colour/size combinations available at the carnival!). If you are interested please let us know – they are just £10 each. We can order any size in a bright red, royal blue, rich purple and a gorgeous vibrant green with a white vinyl print on the front. The t-shirts we have left are L in blue and green and XL in purple. Let us know if you would like to show your support for WHG by wearing a supporter t-shirt (photos available on request).

Family History Morning
If, like us, you’re enjoying the latest series of Who Do You Think You Are you’ll be excited to know that our next family history morning is on Saturday (22 August). Our family history group will be in Wing Library from 10.30 to noon to assist you with your research. Whether you are just starting out and want to understand where you can find information or if you’re more experienced and have hit a brick wall we’d love to see you and help you move forwards.
Archaeology Update
We will be starting our last digs of the season very soon. So far it has been a fascinating glimpse into Wing’s history! If you would like a dig in your garden next year then please let us know. We have a few gardens for next year so plenty of space! We will be holding our Annual Finds Morning in December with displays of the finds and pottery report. More details to follow.
Oral History Project
The History Group is currently setting up an Oral History Project to gather as much information about Wing as possible. If you would like to take part or more information then please get in touch.
History Group WWI Event
Following on from last year’s successful WWI display we will be holding another one on the 14 November. More details to follow.
